Getting Hold of Us

Call 14232755105 and you'll reach someone who can talk through what your door is doing before a truck ever leaves the shop. We're based at 200 E Main St in Johnson City, which puts us close to most of the neighborhoods we work in without a long drive across town first.

Phone triage before dispatch

Most calls start the same way: a door that won't open, a spring that let go, or an opener that runs but doesn't lift. We'd rather ask three questions on the phone and bring the right spring size than show up guessing.

Door type and house age

If you can tell us whether the door is a single or double, and roughly how old the house is, that alone saves a wasted trip for parts.

No after-hours dispatch line

We don't run a 24-hour dispatch line, so if you call after hours expect a callback rather than an instant answer. For anything involving the door being stuck open with a car trapped inside, say so up front — that changes how we schedule the day.

Our limits

Work We Turn Down

We work on garage doors — springs, cables, rollers, tracks, openers, and panels. We don't do general handyman work, and we don't install the doors themselves if a job really calls for a carpenter or a structural fix to the framing around the opening.

Header repair comes first

If the header above your door is sagging or rotted, that's a repair for someone else before we touch the door. A lot of the housing in this area went up between 1958 and 1975, and some of those original openings were framed for door sizes that aren't standard anymore.

Custom-width openings from 1960s

When we hit one of those, we'll tell you straight that a custom-width door means a longer wait on parts, and sometimes the better call is a standard-size replacement rather than forcing an exact match to a 1960s opening.

Refusing phone-guided spring work

We also won't tell you a torsion spring job is a DIY afternoon project. Those springs are under real tension and we turn down requests to "just walk me through it" over the phone — that one we do in person, every time.

Where We Travel

We're set up to reach Central, Pine Crest, Jonesborough, and Oak Grove, all within about six miles, along with Gray, Elizabethton, and Spurgeon a couple miles further out. Unicoi, Bluff City, Valley Forge, and Colonial Heights round out the closer ring, and we'll still take calls from Hampton, Blountville, Hunter, Erwin, and Fall Branch when the day allows for the extra drive time.

Walnut Hill, Bristol, Bloomingdale, and Butler sit at the far edge of where we go, and scheduling those jobs usually means picking a day we're already routed that direction rather than a same-day run. Across this whole stretch, most of the houses we see were built somewhere between 1958 and 2001, with a heavy concentration in 1960s and 70s construction — which means a lot of original hardware that's outlived its parts supply.

The winters here aren't brutal but they're cold enough that steel springs and nylon rollers both lose flexibility by January, so we see a real uptick in calls once the temperature drops and stays there.

Questions

Common questions

Do you install garage doors or only repair them?

We handle both repair and door replacement, but we're not a general contractor — if your opening needs framing or structural work first, that's a separate trade. We'll tell you plainly when a job needs that kind of work before we start.

How far out from Johnson City will you drive for a repair?

We regularly cover towns from Central and Pine Crest out to Butler and Bristol, roughly five to nineteen miles away. Farther jobs like Walnut Hill or Butler usually get scheduled around our existing route rather than dispatched same-day.

Why does my old garage door opening seem like a strange size?

A lot of homes in this area were built in the 1960s and 70s, before door sizing was as standardized as it is now. That can mean a custom-width replacement, which takes longer to source than a standard door.

Can I replace a broken torsion spring myself?

We don't walk people through that over the phone. Torsion springs hold serious tension and a mistake can cause real injury. It's a job we do in person, with the right bars and clamps, every time.
