Jonesborough sits about 6 miles from our shop in Johnson City, and the cable problems we see out here skew a little different from the rest of the service area. Most of the broader territory was built between 1958 and 2001, but Jonesborough's housing leans newer, with a median build year around 1988. That matters for cable work because by the late 1980s, most builders had shifted from extension spring setups with loose safety cables to torsion systems with cable drums mounted on each end of the spring shaft. We carry both styles of drum, galvanized aircraft cable in the common lengths for a standard 7-foot door, and the cable clips and drum set screws that strip out on these units after twenty-plus years of use. We also bring extension-style safety cables for the handful of older doors still running that setup, since the town's stock isn't uniform even with that 1988 median.
